My 29 yr. old son was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. He has all the symptoms plus… enlarged heart, spleen, and gallbladder. Also, bloodclots, fatty liver and kidney. His ANA was 1:40 and speckled. Doctor says he doesn’t have Lupus and refused to address all these other syptoms. Help!

Fibromyalgia symptoms are somewhat elusive, because the levels of symptoms vary between patients. Doctors are still studying the condition to determine exactly what causes fibromyalgia and what can be done to cure it.

So, what are the signs & symptoms of fibromyalgia? A person experiencing symptoms usually report a feeling of pain all over, specifically located at fibromyalgia trigger points around the body. Often, this pain is also accompanied by stiffness in the muscles and tendons.

If you ask a patient “What are the signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia?” they will probably compare their pain to overworked muscles, similar to the strained feeling that muscles have after a full day of manual labor. Or some patients compare the feeling to having the flu– when all of your body is achy and sore.

Also, another sign of fibromyalgia generally causes a person to feel extremely tired and fatigued. They usually have difficulty sleeping, but even when the patient has experienced a full night’s rest they still wake up feeling unrested and exhausted.

One of the biggest fibromyalgia symptoms is a lack of energy. Patients feel completely drained every day, they do not have the energy that they need to make it through simple daily tasks such as showering or completing small household chores.

The fibromyalgia signs and symptoms vary from person to person. Some people report mild symptoms that only affect their lifestyle a few days each week, while other people may report very extreme pain and exhaustion that hampers every aspect of life.

Some patients with intense pain and exhaustion, may actually be diagnosed with a fibromyalgia disability because they are unable to work or perform everyday activities. There is a specific process that a doctor must go through in order to diagnose someone with a fibromyalgia disability.
